McQuerry Adventures: Pumpkin Patch

Last weekend, Travis and I visited the North Carolina State Fair for the very first time. We've heard lots of things about how great the NC State Fair is (supposedly the biggest in the country) but until we went and experienced it, I had no idea just what everyone was talking about.

A Ferris Wheel made completely of balloons inside the exhibition hall.

Our first fried fair food experience (other than a funnel cake). He had the fried Twinkie & I had fried Oreos. One word: Heaven. They had a new special this year, the Twinx. Think a Twixx stuffed Twinkie wrapped in bacon and deep fried. I'm just fine with my Oreos thanks!

This was so funny! Travis said, "Hey, there's your buns!" Lolololol! #wehavenicebunsandwecannotlie Seriously, I have the best maiden name ever!

Then we tried a Turkey leg. I don't know what these turkey's are eating because...did you see the size of that thing? Anyways, I partook in some too and it was also delicious. I had roasted sweet corn (not pictured) and it was amazing...I'm a corn on the cob fanatic!

Did you see the size of that pumpkin? Yeah, well, it wasn't even the biggest one (see below).

Yeah, that's a 1400 lb. pumpkin photobombing our selfie there...how rude!

One of the neat acts/actors we saw...and the only one I cared to photograph. Crazy, impersonator Elvis juggling on a two-story unicycle...not so much.

To top off the night, we caught a Parmalee concert. The tickets were pretty cheap and they're from right here in NC.

Overall, it was a great time with my husband. I love doing new things with him and it is so fun to discover all that Raleigh, the Triangle, and North Carolina have to offer. We don't know where God will lead us next, but in the mean time, we want to soak up our surroundings!

What I Wore Wednesday: Leather & Stripes

This is the perfect look for Fall! I love wearing this cognac leather jacket as much as possible and it's the perfect layer during this cooler weather (even though it will hit 80 this week in NC!). I love wearing skirts and dresses. I just feel so feminine and put together. This maxi skirt is casual and comfortable...a winning pair! Throw on some simple flats and a pop of color underneath the jacket and you have a simple, put together, chic fall outfit.

Fall Faux Fur

I love when an outfit comes together with only a few simple pieces. Take a simple, cotton dress and throw on a fur vest and there you have it. Add some boots and a statement necklace for the finishing touches. Easy peasy in under 5 minutes!

Denim Diamonds

I am still styling my White After Labor Day! These pants are quite long enough (the perks of being 6 feet tall I guess) but I'm rocking them regardless. I found this embellished chambray button up at the Loft outlet in Mebane, NC which is just a short drive from Raleigh. The husband and I have been a couple of times. It's a nice escape from the "city life" and is fun to walk around and mostly look. This was part of my birthday haul from last month.

FPF: Faux Fur Vest

Today I'm sharing one of my favorite trends: The Faux Fur Vest! I've gathered my favorite picks for you to grab in store (or online) now!

Faux Fur

I love the faux fur trend and have noticed it's branching out more and more. I see more colored tones and even patterns/stripes than ever before. While neutrals create the perfect classic look and you are likely to get more wear out of them, the bolder styles are to die for! Take a look:

Rocker Chic

I LOVE this Look! I had no idea when I went to style this vest that this is the path I would take it and I was skeptical at first but after seeing the pics, I think it looks great! Thanks to my poor husband who is badgered during Sunday Football to take blog pics for me and he is so sweet. He sure did give me a laugh when he saw this one though!

You could pair this vest in many different ways and I plan on doing so on the blog as well. This is just where my instincts took me. So what do you think? How would you style this vest?

What I Wore Wednesday: Fall Edition

Back with another post in my What I Wore Wednesday series. You can see the other posts in this series here, here, here, and here.

This is a simple, easy look for school that screams Fall. I love the pattern of the plaid paired with the olive green necklace and cognac leather jacket. Both the plaid flannel top and leather jacket are from Stitchfix which is a personalized shopping service. I haven't received a new "fix" in about 6 months but you can read about my most recent fix here:  #5.

Trend Spin Link Up: Cozy Knits

{Sweater} {Dress} {Belt} {Boots} {Necklace: gifted}

Today's theme for the Trend Spin Linkup is Cozy Knits. I love this long knit sweater from TJ Maxx. It is so comfy and I can't wait to pair it with dresses this fall and denim and boot throughout the winter. My sweet Mom picked this up for me and surprised me when I came home over Labor Day. I love it!

This is a great example of taking a summer piece into fall. This teal high-low dress transitions easily with brown accessories and layers.
