Friday Favorites

It's been a while since I did Life Lately or Friday Favorites post so here you have it: a combo of the two! After two and a half snow days (maybe three...as I write this Thursday night) I am ready for the weekend. Why? All of this snow has drastically decreased my motivation and productivity. I'm ready for a fun-packed weekend to get me reenergized for the month of March!

Without further ado, here are some of my favorites from the past week (or two...)

Saturday, Travis & I hit up Ihop for pancakes and brunch! After a few weeks of being stuck inside from the snow and cold, it was good to get out!

OOTD: Camo + Pink Style Challenge
Button-Up & Camo Vest: {JCP, old} Boots: {Shoe Carnival, recent} Necklace: {Bijoux Boutique, old}

This may be my favorite OOTD EVER!!! I love this combo of Mint + Peach!
Mint Coat: {Old Navy steal, here} Peach Top, Black Denim & Statement Necklace: {Versona Accessories, read more below on my whole shopping trip} Flats: {Cato Fashions, old, steal for $6!}

Snow Day One: Tuesday, February 17th

Same story another day...Snow Day Two: Tuesday, February 24th
Not Pictured, Snow Day Three: Thursday, February 26th - much worse than any of the first two...too cold to take picture from patio with no electricity!

Tucker's Grooming: Before & After
He always looks so much sweeter and innocent with his hair cut so short...he probably gets away with more and extra treats!

This was pre-haircut, resting with his pig. About this toy pig...DON'T buy it! While it has been the only toy he hasn't destructed within 30 seconds flat, it is so annoying. Anytime I'm talking on the phone the other person can always here it.  #soembarrassing  My sweet Nana gifted him two little chickens like this (from Walmart) for Christmas and they make my ears bleed compared to this pig so stay clear! FYI!

Now, onto my next and last favorite(s)...my shopping trip to Versona! I discovered this store last year when we moved to Raleigh and if you've been reading for very long around here you know my absolute LOVE for this store. Hence why I haven't been for at least 8 months...I would literally buy the entire store! And guess what? It is owned by the same corporation as my hometown favorite, Cato Fashions. It is a younger, trendier, more boutique version but with the same low price point! My dressing room always looks like this when I go there:

I wasn't planning on a trip but after having my 4Runner inspected on Saturday I honestly missed the exit to go home and found myself turning around at the stoplight where Versona was! I swear this was not planned! I wasn't looking for anything in particular but a dress for Easter has been in the back of my mind. Not like I need one by any means but it's my southern roots ya'll!

I had stopped in briefly, 10 minutes before the store closed, a couple of weeks ago when Trav and I were on date night eating at the steakhouse across the street. I fell in love with the top above, but in a fuchsia color. Well, when I went back this time the peach was calling my name and I was in LOVE with the fit and drape of this top!

I have also been on the lookout for a pair of black denim. NY&CO failed me during their semi-annual pant event and when I saw one pair laying on the clearance table for a whopping $15 and in my size I grabbed them. And...I LOVE them too!

I also loved both of these printed tops but not for their $30-$35 price tag...until next time.

This skirt Ya'll! I have seen similar ones all over Pinterest and while I didn't take it home...I might be going back for it closer to Spring/Summer! It's only $30!!!

These were the only two dresses I tried on. The black and white print stuck out to me and would be great for business professional attire...ummm..HELLO...I look like I'm headed to the club! The struggle to find appropriate hem lines when you're over 6 feet tall is real!

The blue lace dress comes in many different pastels and neutrals for spring. I loved the blue and had spotted it when I was there "looking" a couple of weeks ago. I liked it okay but it was just too short to where to Church for Easter, especially with it's $50 price tag. But, the more I look at the pic above the more I love it so I don't know...stay tuned I guess!

After hitting the dressing room I hit the jewelry clearance tables. Versona's jewelry selection is like no other. It's like a Charming Charlie on steroids! I snagged the peach and purple statement necklace for $8 & the pearl tassel for $6! Hello bargains!  All in all, my Versona shopping trip came in at under $60! I think I did well and it was an unusual splurge for myself.

Well those were my many favorites over the past week and a half or so. Sorry it was so long...that was really two posts in one! Happy Friday Ya'll!!!

Trend Spin Linkup: Faux Fur

Turtleneck: {JCP, old} Denim: {NY&CO} Fur Vest: {NY&CO} Boots: {Shoe Carnival} Necklace: {Walmart, clearance} Bracelet: {Bijoux Boutique, old}

I'm back today with an outfit post after a bit of a hiatus. It's just too darn cold to venture outside, even for the love of fashion! We finally started seeing some of this nasty ice melt this past weekend though, so yay!

Today's Trend Spin Linkup theme is fur. I realized after I shot this look that my last outfit post, for the TSL, featured this same fur vest. Woops! Oh well, what can I say, I love it! It's my go to date outfit. I love a great faux fur vest...or anything faux fur for that matter!

And let's just take a minute to talk about that #fab statement necklace right there! It came from Walmart Ya'll! Yep, you heard that right. And better yet? It was a whopping $5 on clearance!!! It pays to search the back of the racks...that's all I'm saying. You should go check your local Walmart because they have lots of options in various styles and colors, depending if they're all sold out or not. The majority are all marked down to $5 right now too! The cherry on top with this piece is its cobalt color which is perfect for accessorizing my UK outfits to cheer on the CATS!

Show & Tell Tuesday: Our Love Story

Today I'm linking up with Andrea for Show & Tell Tuesday! I'm so excited to share mine and Travis' love story...all in one place! I can't wait to link up and read everyone else's stories too!

Travis and I met in high school when I was a sophomore and he was a senior. Somehow, we managed to make it through k-12 in the same school district without ever meeting one another until one day when I spotted him in the cafeteria and it was love at first sight...but, really, it was! I knew he was special...he was handsome, laughing, and studying calculus...the full package, right?! I had been praying for sometime that God would be preparing my future husband for me. I started praying about Travis and wanted to guard my heart in case his feelings weren't reciprocated.

A couple of our mutual friends let him know I "liked" him and he started emailing me around Thanksgiving. We still joke about the day he finally came and sat down at my lunch booth to eat with me. I spent the next very loonngg 25 minutes staring out the window, trying to avoid all eye contact, while eating my peanut butter sandwich! I was so nervous!!

I was still 15 and not allowed to officially date so my parents dropped me off at the movies for our first date on December 4th, after 3 weeks of "talking." You know you've found a good one when a 17 year old, senior boy, is willing to date the shy sophomore dropped off in a minivan outside the movie theater on a Saturday night! He shook my dad's hand and I knew we were off to a good start! We started "dating" three days later, on December 7th, 2005. The next few months we spent talking for hours upon end and enjoying all of your typical high school couple things, like prom!

Our first prom, 2006.

Neither Travis or I had ever dated anyone before so we were each other's first girlfriend/boyfriend. It's a special thing that we still share to this day, as we've never dated anyone else. It pays to wait for true love! This prom wound up being the absolute best out of all three we attended!

Travis also spent the majority of the winter coming to support me at all of my high school basketball games, back when I was a baller. #shotcalla

I know this picture is blurry but it's the only one I could find from Travis' high school graduation. I still had two more years of high school left and Travis went to college about 45 minutes away. He commuted from home though so we still got to see each other a lot on the weekends.

The summer before senior year, we went to Bible camp together. It was my third year and I was so excited for Travis to come with me.

Our junior prom when I dressed up like a lilac cupcake...what was I thinking?! I loved this dress at the time. I practically starved myself to make sure I could fit into it since it was a size smaller than what I really wore. Seriously...what was I thinking?

I graduated in 2008 and was off to the University of Kentucky to double major in Family and Consumer Sciences. This pictures is from our third dating anniversary...the first time I made this brownie recipe.

When I went to college, the time we got to spend together quickly lessened. I came home on the weekends to see him and we learned to do a semi-long distance relationship. It worked and I found that distance definitely does make the heart grow fonder.

Easter 2009

Celebrating Travis' 21st birthday.
Travis and I, neither one, partake in alcoholic beverages and aren't the party type, more of the hang with friends type. Needless to say, we did not have the typical college 21st birthday celebrations.

In 2010, Travis graduated college and he was off to the real world.

On December 26th of 2010 he finally popped the question! Nothing glamorous but it was so sweet and special! Of course I said yes, after 5 years of dating!

We spent the next couple of years struggling with when the right time would be to get married. I was still a junior in college and we knew we wanted to wait until I graduated. I already had plans to get my PhD though so we weren't sure when the "perfect" time was.

In 2012, we ran about 8 5Ks and 5 mile trail runs! It was fun and was great couples therapy...LOL!

We finally took engagement pictures in the fall of 2012 because we had set a date for December 7th, 2013, on our 8 year dating anniversary!

Wedding Shower 2013

I though this day was never going to come!

It was the BEST day! More than I ever could have hoped for or dreamed of!

Finally MARRIED after 8 years!!!

I hated to see 2014 come to a close! It was THE best year of my life.

Although we moved away from family and started new jobs, it was the best experience for us. It brought us so much closer together.

Our first married Thanksgiving 2014

We celebrated our first wedding anniversary, and 9 whole years together, at the Biltmore.

Now, coming upon 10 years together, it is crazy how fast the time has flown by. I cannot fully put into words what Travis means to me. He has been there for me in so many ways and helped me make so many tough decisions. I know it's cheesy, but he is my best friend, who I can tell everything and vice versa. He knows me better than anyone and I couldn't do life without him! Now we get to live life together, and I can't wait to see where the next 9 or 10 years takes us!

p.s. sorry for all the mush! I couldn't let the opportunity to capture our story on the blog pass me up!
