Spring Vibes

This outfit is featuring my first pair of lace-up flats/sandals! I found this at Versona Accessories in just my size. They are so cute but...any advice on how to get them to stay tied?! These are quickly becoming impractical for me...I think I need practice on the lace-up technique!

This bugle horn turquoise necklace was also a sale find I purchased with my gift card at Versona. This necklace trend is everywhere this season so I went with the intention to find one and fell in love with this bright beauty.

Another recent score...this leather J Crew handbag the hubs & I found at the local outlet they held at the NC State fairgrounds a couple of weekends ago. I quickly snatched it up!!

The main show of this look is this fun lace applique sleeve top...found at Cato Fashions. The pop of red with the bag plays perfectly with the pop of turquoise in the necklace and top!

Floral & Fringe

Another day...another 70s vibe outfit! The 70s are back and I'm embracing them!!

This dress I also scored on the Versona Accessories clearance rack for just $15, as well! It is perfect to wear year round with it's beautiful floral print. I paired it with a cropped crochet fringe vest, open-toe fringe booties, and a pearl tassel necklace. All of these pieces plus the fringe handbag are from Cato Fashions...mostly clearance finds but some are gifted.

I plan on rocking this look all spring/summer/fall long!

Boho Chic

Today's outfit is centered around one of my recent finds at Versona Accessories. I recently won a style challenge entry on their Instagram page that came with a $100 gift card!!! I never win anything so I kept thinking it was a hoax right up until I swiped the card for my purchases!

This fabulous faux-suede blush dress with cut-outs was on the sale rack for just $15!! I quickly grabbed it up and took it to the dressing room with the rest of my haul! It was perfection!

I paired it with a crochet kimono, fringe handbag, gemstone pendant, and open-toe mules; all of which are from Cato Fashions! This outfit is under $50 total!!

This is very "Boho Chic" and my favorite new style I seem to keep gravitating towards. Stay tuned for similar looks to come on the blog this week!

New Do

Tunic: Cato Fashions ($4 ya'll!!) / Leggings: Kohls-Lauren Conrad Collection / Flats: Cato Fashions ($6) / Tassel Stone Necklace: Cato Fashions ($6)

So I got a new do...unexpectedly but that's a long story...and I'm loving it! I wasn't looking to get a good chop but I ended up with one nonetheless (stick with your go-to hair girl gals!). After having a slight pity party and a color/cut correction, I am embracing my trendy new style. I've had this style a few times before and I always LOVE it but end up going back to my long locks soon enough. As I prepare to start a new big gal position soon, I'm thinking this cropped do may be here to stay for a little while!

What about you gals? Short, long? Curly, straight? Dark or light? How do you prefer your hair or do you like to switch it up?

Tank & Leggings: Fabletics / Pullover: FILA

Speaking of FitBit has been KEY during the past few weeks as it has not only counted my steps (which have been in the 10-12K each day! Shew!) but served as my timer for all of my trials as the subjects are completing their physiological work protocol. A.K.A. I am sweating my tush off in a 100F chamber monitoring their vitals.

This was my happy face a few Saturdays ago on my way to finally get my hair did. Unfortunately, a new hair gal (my go to was all booked up) equaled the worst cut/color of my life. I left with my hair 5 inches shorter (asked for a small trim but to keep all the length) in 20 different layers and big chunky platinum blonde highlights...yes, tears were shed!!

Then we suited up this little guy in preparation for the CATS to beat Indiana. Womp..Womp..Womp...they lost so we all had a big cry!

Sunday on the way to Church. Had to wear my hair naturally curly for a while to hide all the crazy imperfections before I could get it fixed by my regular girl a few days later. Thank goodness it is fixed and looks much better! It's a lot shorter than I wanted but I love the style now that it has grown on me.

This little inspiration got me through another busy week of trials.

Presenting a portion of my dissertation research at the NC State University Graduate Research Symposium.
